Our Team of Doctors
Most dental practices are named after whoever runs them. We chose “Smile Gallery” on purpose because a gallery is a place where individual pieces are designed, refined and shown with care, and that’s exactly how we think about the smiles we create. No two are the same, and none should look like they came off an assembly line.
Dr. Andrew Charkiw and Dr. Armaghan Afsar have spent their careers in Toronto turning that philosophy into natural-looking results, supported by a team that treats every visit, cosmetic or routine, with the same attention to detail. From our practice in Yorkville, we’ve helped thousands of patients across the GTA feel like themselves again.
Dr. Andrew Charkiw
Dr. Charkiw’s path into dentistry began with the science of how the body works. He earned an Honours Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science from the University of Toronto in 1993 before completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery there in 1997. That grounding in human biology still shows in how he practices — thoughtful, precise and genuinely curious about each patient’s overall health, not just their teeth.
Patients tend to describe him as calm and unhurried, the kind of dentist who explains what he’s seeing and why, and who treats a complex smile makeover and a routine filling with the same care.
Dr. Armaghan Afsar
Dr. Afsar built her dental career on an equally strong scientific foundation, with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Toxicology from the University of Toronto in 1994, followed by her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1998. She brings a meticulous, detail-driven eye to cosmetic and restorative work. The sort of attention that makes the difference between a result that looks good and one that looks real.
Like her colleague, she is a firm believer that the best dentistry is the kind you don’t notice, smiles that simply look natural, and visits that feel reassuring rather than rushed.
A Commitment to Continuing Education
Dentistry never stops evolving, and neither do we. Both dentists are in good standing with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and active members of the Ontario Dental Association and the Canadian Dental Association.
Their commitment to cosmetic excellence goes further, through involvement with the Toronto Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Toronto Implant Study Club for restoring missing teeth, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry and Institute for Laser Dentistry for modern, comfortable treatment techniques. We pursue that education for one simple reason: it lets us offer you proven, current care instead of whatever was standard years ago.

What Makes Our Practice Different
In House Dental Lab
A few things genuinely set Toronto Smile Gallery apart from the average cosmetic dental office.
The biggest is our in-house dental lab. Most practices send impressions to an outside lab and hope the result matches what they pictured. We don’t. Our dentists and lab technicians work under the same roof, holding the porcelain up to your face and refining shade, shape and character in real time. It’s slower and more demanding than outsourcing, and it’s the single biggest reason our veneers and crowns look like teeth rather than tiles.
Before & After Smile Gallery
The second is experience you can actually see. Between them, our dentists have placed more than 5,000 porcelain veneers and designed countless full smile transformations. Their work has been featured on national television, including the makeover series Style by Jury. Every before-and-after image in our gallery is a real patient we’ve treated, never a stock photo.
